The Vryll Society
Plus, we've got first play of their 'Andrei Rublev'...

The Vryll Society have always harboured ambitions for something grand.

Live, the Liverpool psychedelic outfit seem to surge towards some greater glory, driven by sweeping vocals, lysergic guitar lines, and pounding, unrelenting drums.

So news of their debut album isn't something to be taken lightly. Out on August 10th, 'Course Of The Satellite' is a space rock journey into uncharted realms, a tripped out but tuned in recitation.

"Well obviously being in a band making a first album is always a huge deal," they tell Clash over email. "We’ve been making this album for a while and we have held off releasing it so that we can really look deep into each song and make sure what we are doing is the best we can do."

"The LP has a quite a wide and colourful range of songs," they continue. "We kind of cross genres in some ways, for example we have a bit of hip-hop, krautrock, there’s psychedelia, a little bit of dark dance music all mixed up into our own style. With our stamp on it."

New single 'Andrei Rublev' is a signal for what to expect - that gloriously undulating guitar line, and vocals that race to the heavens amid references to left field Russian cinema.

"I think it came from one or two of us jamming around," we're told. "Then like always we all get involved and build it up."

"We really dig the Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky who made the film Andrei Rublev so the look of the video is us kinda paying homage to his genius. We linked in some of the artwork as well to get a theme going and to be honest it's probably our favourite video we've done, which is down to another genius called Peter Fearon."

We're able to showcase the video for 'Andrei Rublev' before anyone else - tune in below.
