The singer has bagged his first fashion campaign.

As the AW15 campaign trail continues to rage on, so to does the musician as model trend, if a trend it can indeed be defined (hardly?).

Making the announcement via Instagram (cos, obvs), Sam Smith is the latest non-model to try his hand in the industry, fronting the new Balenicaga menswear campaign.

The news sees Smith join Marc Jacobs’ rock heavy line up (here), Riri’s turn at Dior, Yeezy’s Balmain stint (last season), and Hedi Slimane’s reign at Saint Laurent, for whom Josh Homme, Marilyn Manson and Beck have all sat/starred.

“So honoured and ecstatic to announce my collaboration with Balenciaga on the upcoming FW15 Menswear campaign!!!!” confirmed the singer on his Facebook page.

The Josh Olins lensed campaign is accompanied by a short video – soundtracked by Andy Scott – in which the former Clash Next Waver performs his best blue steel in a concrete bunker; catch a glimpse here
