Proceedings at BAZAR-14 are relatively quiet affairs, which claims a sense of exclusivity for fans and intrigue for the rest: the label doesn’t show at London Collections: Men, features only a contact section on its monochrome website and boasts a polite list of stockists; amongst them (however) are heavyweights like Selfridges.
In part this is due to its youth – the label has only been up and running for a few seasons – but you get the feeling it’s also part of the plan, to retain a certain level of underground hype, for want of an appropriate phrase.
So far so good: A$AP Rocky, Wiley and Skepta are fans, likewise the journalist Charlie Porter, named last week by Style.com as one of their 25 People Who Matter Most In Menswear Right Now (should his credentials need pushing).
For AW15 then, the team hooked up with photographer Dexter Navy, making use of London’s concrete playground as a backdrop for the accompanying look book. The cut and paste aesthetic of Navy’s pictures reflect the authenticity of the clothes; there is a disregard for shine throughout, which compliments the hardness of the Russian characters serving here as motifs.
