Ralph Lauren is inherently American. Synonymous with both stateside preppiness and the rise in hip-hop streetwear, Ralph Lauren has been a staple across American culture since the brand was founded in 1967.
In Ralph Lauren's 54 year history, through the mainline and Polo collections, the brand has captured a hedonistic American dream. This week Ralph Lauren has unveiled a 38-piece unisex capsule collection with Browns of London. Celebrating a new home on. Brook Street in Mayfair, Browns can be credited for shaping the face of British fashion, launching the careers of the likes of John Galliano and Alexander McQueen, Brows was also the first U.K. retailer to take a chance on Ralph Lauren back in 1980.
Over three decades later, the Browns x Polo Ralph Lauren capsule merges heritage heritage British pieces with Ivy League classics from the Polo archives. Championing streetwear, the merging of American and British fashion and Ralph Lauren's affinity for après, the collection boasts a series of waterproof jackets with vintage logos, shearling collars and a matching yellow 'Snow Beach' gilet and pant set. The iconic Polo Ralph Lauren Bear is given an exclusive makeover with a Union Jacket jumper knitted on each appearance alongside some racing shirts and a pair of embroidered logo jeans.
On the capsule, Lee Goldup, Buyer at Browns said: "Reflecting on this legacy, the team at Browns wanted to partner with Polo Ralph Lauren to curate something one of a kind. Inspired by mid-90s culture and speaking to many of the classic and much hyped Polo Ralph Lauren collections from years past, the capsuel has a familiarity that feels completely relevant in 2021."
