The Design Museum picks their top designs of the last year.

From a non-stick ketchup bottle to Prada's Spring Summer 12 RTW collection, over 90 nominations across Fashion, Architecture, Digital, Furniture, Graphics, Product and Transport make up the Designs of The Year 2013 exhibition at London's Design Museum. Opened to the public yesterday and available to view until July, the sixth annual contest looks at the most original designs and prototypes to come out of the last twelve months.

In the Fashion category Miuccia is joined by Louis Vuitton (Yasoi Kusama collection), Elisha Smith-Leverock (for her short 'I Want Muscle'), Comme des Garcons (RTW AW12), Proenza Schouler (AW12 collection), Giles Deacon (AW12 womenswear), Jacqueline Durran's costumes for Anna Karenina, Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel (directed by Lisa Immordino), and lastly Craig Green's AW12 collection. Green's nomination is for his MA collection shown last February as part of the Central Saint Martins MA show at London Fashion Week, pre-the red tops reaction to his first semi-standalone with Fashion East, witnessed in January. "I've always thought that fashion is a form of escapism and believe that there should always be an element of adventure and fantasy," he told Clash when we profiled him as a One to Watch prior to the 17 piece collection causing a stir. Recently he's created pieces for the ARRRGH! exhibition at the La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris; needless to say, we're still watching.

Noteworthy nominees in other categories include A Room For London-the boat-shaped installation currently posing on top of the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank-designed by David Kohn Architects in collaboration with Fiona Banner (Architecture), the Barbican's Rain Room designed by Random International (Digital), it saw queues reach the 12 hour mark, and Nike's Flyknit trainers (Product), which create the feeling of a second skin due to the technology used.

The overall winner will be announced next month while the exhibition closes on 7th July.
