Tommy Hilfiger. The name alone evokes a positive sense of purpose; whether it’s the late-’80s hip-hop fans who embraced the brand as an affordable yet aspirational upcomer, or the sheer determination of the founder himself, who’s steered his creation with a resolutely innovative drive from the beginning, the label’s close association with doing things differently is all - quite literally - a part of its fabric.
It’s these brand values that are the focus of Tommy Hilfiger’s AW17 content series, Headliners, which meets a selection of artists whose collective successes are credited to - or in spite of - breaking rules, defying expectaions and rejecting the constraints that would limit those that are less resourceful.
Current brand ambassadors The Chainsmokers lead the pack, and are joined by Dutch producer/DJ Jarreau Vandal, inventive LA R&B duo THEY., and South Korean star Chanyeol Park. The series, which sees the artists styled in looks from Fall 17 Tommy Hilfiger Sportswear, Hilfiger Edition, and Tommy Hilfiger Tailored collections, examines the roots of their individuality and the benefits of unconventional thinking.
"Outsiders are the people that come up with the best art,” begins The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggard. “They see things their way. They’re not always well received, but at the end of the day those are the people that really influence culture, and the world needs those people.”
