Waistcoat, vest, whatever.

Waistcoat is a frightening word for men – even more so for women who wish not to resemble Kate Moss circa the Pete Doherty days (so, most) – but for gents at least this doesn’t have to be the case.

You can make a start by replacing the term ‘waistcoat’ with ‘vest’, a la the copywriters responsible for this Filson number (no sleeves, button down front, ultimately it is a better looking snooker player’s uniform).

But given the style was noted at Kanye’s adidas debut, presented in brocade at Nasir Mazhar AW15 and spotted IRL on Swedish fashion editor David Hellqvist, 2015, it appears, has been collectively chosen as the year we stop running scared, and Mackinaw wool courtesy of Seattle’s finest will do nicely thanks.
