Livestream from Roma Jazz Festival on Thursday 12th November

Italy, like the U.K and other parts of Europe was particularly hard hit by Covid-19 early on in the outbreak.

Weeks of quarantine closed venues, concert halls and kept musicians penned up in their homes serenading their neigbours whilst playing music from their balconies.

Clash has teamed up with LIVENow to highlight a series of upcoming streams from Roma Jazz Festival.

Acclaimed pianist Alexander Hawkins is known for his fusion of classical tropes and pop references in a freeform style.

Skipping between large crescendos to muted whispered notes, long chord progressions into free incursions exploring repetition.

Joined by Hamid Drake on drums who shares Alexander's sensibilities. Also striving and searching out new forms of expression via the drum kit.

Broadcast on Thursday 12th November, the performance promises to be heady and hypnotic mix, circular and intense without respite.
