It's not a laughing matter...
U2

One of the most recognisable rock stars on the planet, Bono has his fair share of detractors.

So when the U2 frontman plummeted from his bicycle while riding in New York's Central Park earlier this week, the internet was merciless.

The Irish band were forced to cancel a week long residency on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, with Bono left to recuperate following surgery.

Now full details of the singer's eye-watering injuries have emerged. Surgeon Dean Lorich spoke to Rolling Stone, explaining that the frontman fractured his eye socket, his shoulder blade, his upper arm, and his left pinky finger.

The injury to Bono's upper arm sounds excruciating - the humerus bone broke in five places before going through his skin, and required five hours of surgery to set right.

Requiring extensive therapy, the injuries are not thought to threaten U2's forthcoming world tour.

Get well soon, Bono!
