"Great Escape" Showcase Confirmed

In only two years Brighton's "Great Escape" musical showcase has transformed itself into a slightly chillier version of SXSW. Set over three days in May it promises the best in established and emerging alternative acts.

Great Escape 2007 featured a stellar bill, including sets from Klaxons, The Kooks and The Gossip. However, the real excitement takes place away from the more established acts and venues as up-and-coming bands ply their ways on streets corners. Brighton comes alive at this time of year, with gigs anywhere you can fit a drum kit and a couple of amplifiers.

An alternative event even took off last year, with more underground British acts combining to offer a different take on the UK scene. The Great Escape takes on a more socially aware guise with its use of guest speakers, which have in the past included Howard Marks, Michael Eavis and Norman Cook.

Early bird tickets are £35 each. The Great Escape takes place between May 15th - 17th, 2008.
