But fans come to his aid...
Dev Hynes

Dev Hynes has lost all of his possessions in a fire at his New York apartment.

Dev Hynes seems to inspire a rare devotion from fans. Through his Lightspeed Champion and Blood Orange monikers, the songwriter has weaved a merry path which has taken him from fleapit London venues to studio sessions with Solange.

Tragically, last night (December 16th) the songwriter revealed that he had lost everything in a fire at his apartment. Speaking to fans on Twitter, Dev Hynes said:

"I've lost everything I own, including scores, hard drives..... clothes, sentimental items. Everything from my life is gone. My dog died in the fire. I will love you forever Cupid. I miss you. I still don't own a phone. So email me if you need to get in touch. I might need some time. Thanks."

Friends vocalist Samantha Urbani is also Hynes' girlfriend, and her mother swung into action. Opening at GoFundMe page, she pleaded with fans to help the songwriter: "Last night in a tragic apartment fire my daughter's boyfriend Dev Hynes lost everything- important music he is composing, computers, clothes, personal and sentimental belongings..and their little puppy Cupid. :( Please donate if you can. Even a dollar will help."

The results have been staggering. Setting a goal of $5000 this target was smashed within hours - the fund currently stands at $17,000 and rising.
