Orcadian composer Erland Cooper has shared his lush, beautiful new piece 'Spoot Ebb'.
Now based in London, the composer released his debut solo album 'Solan Goose' last year, the first in a triptych exploring identity, history, and culture through the lens of his native Orkney.
Using the archipelago's landscapes and language as a cypher, this exploration continues on incoming album 'Sule Skerry'.
Out on May 17th, new single 'Spoot Ebb' is online now, an incredible fusion of tumbling piano notes and riveting choral harmonies.
Erland Cooper comments: “I like to take almost an etching of the landscape away with me in my books, boxes, digital and analogue machines. When you listen to something out of context, that’s when you learn exactly what to keep and what to discard.”
Long time collaborator and visual artist Alex Kozobolis, itself dominated by Orcadian vistas. Tune in now.
