Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales are set to release new collaborative album 'Room 29' on March 17th.
The duo first met over a decade ago, and have remained sporadically in touch ever since, swapping numerous ideas in the process.
In 2012 they collaborated on a version of Stephen Sondheim’s 'I’m Still Here', and the success of this project seemingly sparked fresh ambition.
Passing through the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood while on tour with Pulp, Jarvis Cocker came across a baby grand, and began imagining tales of the famous people who have tinkled with its keys.
The idea grew and grew, with Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales building a full song cycle. The pair worked with Renaud Letang at the legendary Ferber Studios in Paris, with the bulk of the material being laid down live.
Full studio album 'Room 29' will be released on March 17th via Deutsche Grammophon - check out a teaser below.
Catch Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales performing material from 'Room 29' lives at London's Barbican between March 23rd - 25th.
