Collaboration produces a cover cut…

RONiiA is the collaborative project of three quite different musicians, that comes together to just work. The line-up features Nona Marie Invie of Dark Dark Dark, Mark McGee of Father You See Queen and Marijuana Deathsquads, and Fletcher Barnhill of Join Custody. United, they deliver songs of dejection and love, laced with dark melodies and crackling equipment.

The band’s eponymous debut album (pre-order) is due on December 9th, and from it comes ‘Dearest’ – a cover of a 1957 song by R&B pair Mickey & Sylvia.

‘Dearest’ is a record that McGee was obsessed with after finding the 45" one spring day at Hymies Vintage Records. He used the song as a tool to perpetuate the feeling of lost love and most importantly, to get over a break-up. RONiiA’s version keeps the raw notion of heartbreak and fleeting love. It is a song that yearns and begs with hopes and dreams.
