Produced by Malay

A deeply incisive, probing artist, tUnE-yArDs is most readily associated with left field fare.

Yet Merril Garbus also has a definite pop touch, an ability to funnel her ideas into a golden three minute nugget of melody.

New album 'Nikki Nack' features two tracks produced by Malay - a Los Angeles studio wizard famed for his work with Frank Ocean.

Stripped from the upcoming full length, 'Wait For A Minute' finds Malay slowing down tUnE-yArDs glitchy rhythms to coax out a syrup-sweet vocal performance from Garbus.

The singer explains: "We were nervous to work with Malay, as we'd never had experience with producers before. But he quickly gave us confidence, teaching us to create a full sound while maintaining a very sparse instrumentation. The tiny details give the song depth, so the vocal is allowed to take up a lot of space".
