'A Letter Home' due this year
Neil Young

It's been one of the worst-kept secrets in music.

Late last year, fan site Thrasher's Wheat reported that Jack White and Neil Young were working together. Subsequently, American journalist Michael Goldberg claimed to have verified the news, indicating that the pair had completed a covers album.

Now, Neil Young has confirmed details of his next album - and it will be released on Jack White's Third Man imprint.

Whilst it's not clear if this album is the covers record Goldberg referred to, the news is nonetheless pretty damn exciting.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Neil Young described the album as "one of the lowest-tech experiences I've ever had". Which, given Neil Young's experience of low-tech, is really saying something.

Neil Young was honored with a Recording Academy President's Merit Award at the 7th Annual Producers & Engineers Wing Grammy Week Celebration earlier this week.

A mouthful, perhaps, but it did allow the Canada-born artist to give a powerful, revealing acceptance speech - watch it HERE.
