Sinead O'Connor appeared on Good Morning Britain a few moments ago (September 16th) and claimed that Prince tried to punch her.
The Irish artist made a rare appearance on UK television, performing her classic version of 'Nothing Compares 2 U'.
Originally penned by Prince, the conversation turned towards the Purple One, with hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid asking her about the icon.
"We tried to beat each other up," she said. "This is not a joke, it was a really frightening experience." Sinead added: "It was in LA, he summoned me to his house and foolishly I went along. He was uncomfortable that I wasn't his protégé and he wanted me to be."
Prince seemingly told her not to swear any more, which appalled the singer: "I told him where he could go. Then he went for me. I ran out of his house and hid behind a tree."
She added: "I was spitting at him and he tried to punch me. He had something hard in a pillow."
Sinead O'Connor finished by saying that was the last time the pair ever saw one another.
The appearance divided social media:
I thought @SineadOconnorHQ was outstanding. She's always going to have her haters, I would think her biggest enemy has been herself along the way, and I admire her strength to battle thru it all. #SineadOConnor— Gee (@Gee_2b) September 16, 2019
I see all the mental health slurs are out on show today regarding #SineadOConnor, who has been open and honest about her issues in this area.— Gareth McL (@GMLmusic) September 16, 2019
This tells you something about those using them and nothing about her.
