Squid will release new album 'Bright Green Field' on May 7th.
The band dip into post-punk while also veering into unexplored fields, resulting in a skewed but immediate take on guitar music.
Debut album 'Bright Green Field' follows a string of excellent live shows, one off singles, and an EP, with Dan Carey at the controls.
Out on May 7th through Warp Records, Squid's debut LP is teased by new single 'Paddling'.
Matching a percussive engine borrowed from Neu! and Can alongside woozy psych textures, 'Paddling' billows out over the barriers laid down in its path.
“Written from two different perspectives, ‘Paddling’ is a song about the dichotomy between simple pleasures and decadent consumerism. Recounting a familiar scene from Wind in the Willows, the song reminds us that although we are humans, we are ultimately animals that are driven by both modern and primal instincts, leading to vanity and machismo around us in the everyday.”
