Career spanning collection...
The Clash

The Clash are set to collect their recorded output on the lavish new box set 'Sound System'.

More than ten years on from the untimely death of Joe Strummer, The Clash continue to inspire. Perhaps it's their sense of righteousness, their willingness to experiment or their eagerness to document everyday life as it was lived by ordinary people.

Or maybe it's just their killer tunes. Whatever, somebody should name a magazine after them...

New release 'Sound System' gathers the band's collected output into one lavish collection. Alongside those fabled studio albums - from 'The Clash' to 'Combat Rock' - fans will be able to claim three CDs of unreleased material, original and newly commissioned fanzines, a DVD of exclusive footage and sundry other memorabilia.

Packaged in a retro boombox case designed by Paul Simonon, the box set will be released on September 9th. Alongside this, The Clash are making available the somewhat slimmer 'Best Of' collection 'The Clash - Hits Back'.

Spread across two CDs, the package mimics the band's epochal 1982 set at the Brixton Fairdeal. "Every show was different. Joe would spend a lot of time composing the running order, considering dynamics, emotional impact and the key the songs were in. This record is based on Joe’s set list from The Casbah Club UK Tour, Brixton Fairdeal, 10th July 1982". Mick, Paul & Topper.

'Sound System' / 'The Clash - Hits Back' will be released on September 9th.
