It's a stripped back version of 'I Feel For You'...

An acoustic version of Prince performing 'I Feel For You' has been unearthed.

The 1979 track is set to gain a new seven inch pressing, spruced up for its 40th birthday.

Alongside this, the Purple One's vaults have been opened, with a raw, stripped back acoustic version placed online.

It's a startling listen - the acoustic guitar sounds ragged but controlled, Prince moving through the changes and letting the song evolve.

His phrasing is immaculate, that high voice probing amidst the melody, gradually finding his true space.

“I was blown away,” says Prince vault archivist Michael Howe. “Here is 20-year-old Prince thinking aloud, feeling his way through the song. You hear his incredible talent shining through on acoustic guitar, which is not something he typically showcased, and his guide vocal is astonishingly great.”

A shockingly intimate listen, you can check it out now.
