'Dat It'

South London partnership Blue Lab Beats are relentless in their creativity.

A group whose jazztronica sound breaks down barriers, the pair draw on the possibilities of jazz and the endless fluidity of club culture.

With a new LP and a London show confirmed - Hootanany in Brixton on November 19th - Blue Lab Beats are ready to take their next step.

New single 'Dat It' is a bubbling, effervescent return, one that finds Blue Lab Beats once more overhauling their sound.

Trails of brass are overlaid across a hip-hop beat, the boom-bap tradition brought bang up to date by two South London kids working alongside pivotal guest Kiefer.

Blue Lab Beats comment: “This song was so much fun to record, especially having the amazing Kiefer featuring on keys. We did a mini tour with Kiefer way back in 2019 and have been in contact since so we finally decided to make a track this year. Such a humble human being with great advice so it was an honor to get him on board for this song.”

For his part, Kiefer adds: "I've been a fan of Blue Lab Beats for a few years now. They opened for us in London and I loved their set, so when the asked me to play keys on this track I was happy to do it. They sent the track and I listened once and immediately heard what I wanted to do.”

We've got first play of the video for 'Dat It' and it takes Blue Lab Beats to their home turf - tune in now.
