Some great ideas, spread too thinly...
The Naked And Famous - In Rolling Waves

New Zealand quintet The Naked And Famous have sufficient ideas and invention for a fantastic half-hour record.

Unfortunately for them - and us - ‘In Rolling Waves’ is actually 55 minutes long, meaning that several of its dozen tracks outstay their welcome or simply take too long in getting where they’re trying to go.

This second long-play set, following 2010’s ‘Passive Me, Aggressive You’, does have its moments though. And when it all comes together, ‘In Rolling Waves’ is a thrilling, melodramatic ride through the regions where pop, electro and alternative rock crossover, and finally meet.

More rigorous editing next time, and this band could truly become famous, regardless of whether they’re wearing clothes or not.
