Electronic music has always swung between two poles, two extremities.
Club culture revolves around masculine / feminine, techno / house, tension / release. A less explored dynamic, though, is the divide between the experience and the popular, between the cerebral and the immediate.
It's the latter which fascinates Lusine. The Seattle based producer is now onto his third album, his third full length statement, with Ghostly International set to release 'The Waiting Room' on February 18th.
Fusing glitchy, left field moments of abstract exploration with vivid, technicolour pop, Lusine has produced his most varied yet coherent album yet. Those influences ripple through lead single 'Another Tomorrow' which matches a driving, almost Techno feel to bubbling synths which could come straight from the Radiophonic Workshop.
Hanssen has stepped in to remix the track, producing something which seems to build on the tensions of the original. Stretched out towards the seven minute mark, it's an ambitious sonic structure which hits soaring peaks and frantic, oppressive lows.
