'No Love Lost'

The commercial resurgence of house music may well have supplied 2014 with one of its neatest talking points but, out at the fringes, strange and exciting sounds are eminating.

Working almost as an inverse to a bloated big room house scene, a number of producers are pushing ahead, releasing bizarre pieces of electronic production.

As ever, Will Saul is leading the way. The lynchpin of Aus Music, the producer’s own work under his CLOSE moniker is continuing to inspire. Recently hooking up with Second Storey – real name Alec Storey, who previously recorded as Al Tourettes – the two have begun bombarding us with fascinating sounds.

New cut ‘No Love Lost’ has been forthcoming for some time, a regular staple in Will Saul’s set. The Seven Davis Jr. remix you may well already be familiar with, but Clash is able to premiere the original as our latest Track Of The Day.

Opening with fidgeting, propulsive techno there’s an intensity to the piece which recalls those early slabs of Belgian hardcore which emerged on R&S. The roughneck sound has a metallic, near industrial sensibility yet this is offset with vocal snippets which verge on the soulful.

Listen to it now.
