The sounds of African have gone global.

You came blame Vampire Weekend. Or the blogosphere. Whatever the reason, it suddenly seems as if the deeply tribal funk and the sweet melodies of the dark continent have become the sound of the moment.

Hailing from California, Fools Gold are a new multi-limbed collective who seek inspiration in the music of Africa. Their self-titled debut album echoed the rhythms of Soweto, the brutal groove of Kwassa Kwassa.

Live, the band are a phenomenon twisting their material into intense new shapes. Taken from their debut album, Fool's Gold's new single 'Nadine' is a superb introduction to the band.

Matched by a typically striking video, the track laments the mysteries of desire with a nod to early American R&B and Ethiopian soul. Directed By Adria Petty, the video captures Fool’s Gold inside a mausoleum at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery on a rare rainy Los Angeles night.
