Southend is beginning to make a name for itself as a hub of new talent.
Almost each week brings a new band to our door, ranging from Riot Grrrl to DIY punk to biting, anthemic indie rock.
The Collier sit in the latter bracket, and their early shows have proved to be precocious affairs, laced with lucid potential.
New single 'Loose Hearts' was recorded in the legendary Rockfield Studios - where Queen laid down 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - and it's a real breakthrough for the south coast band.
Nailing that live energy while adding something new, 'Loose Hearts' is perhaps The Collier's finest release yet. The band explain...
“Our overall sound and direction has really matured over the years, and ‘Loose Hearts’ represents that development. It’s not uncommon to look into yourself to try and find what else is there to contribute, so there’s definitely a sense of self deprecation we wanted to portray”.
